Map layout
Split has two sites: A at the top of the minimap, B at the bottom. Attackers start on the right, defenders on the left. Mid, with Mid Top, Mid Vent, Mid Mail and the ropes, links the two sites: whoever holds it can threaten both A and B and forces the other team to burn utility. A is attacked through A Main from A Lobby, or through A Ramps toward A Tower. B has only one main entrance, B Garage, and is often taken with pressure in mid. Each site has a high level that dominates (Heaven) and a lower level underneath (Hell). Tight lanes, high ground and short rotations through mid: the map has a reputation for favoring defense, and attackers win mostly by taking space in mid before choosing a site.
Key features
Heaven and Hell on each site
Each site has a high zone, Heaven, that overlooks the area, and a low zone underneath, Hell. Defenders get a clear edge there: attackers often smoke Heaven before entering.
Mid and the ropes
Mid Top leads to Mid Vent, Mid Mail and the ropes, and touches both sites. There are three sets of ropes: two from A Sewer to A Lobby, one from B Hell to B Tower, and four in the vents. They are mostly used for a split or a rotation.
Few entrances per site
A is taken through A Main and A Ramps, B through B Garage, plus anything coming from mid. The defender knows where to look, and an attacker who enters dry through a single lane gets blocked fast.
Tweaks in 2023
When Split came back with patch 6.0 on January 10, 2023, part of the A Rafters platform was cut, the A crate lost some width, a trash can was removed behind the B Tower crate and the small raised nook on B Site was widened. A small ledge in Mid Bottom also disappeared.
Site A
A is a deep site, toward the top of the map. It has one main entrance on the attack side, A Main, with A Ramps as a second access from mid. Heaven dominates the site, Screens backs it up, and the plant happens in the zone at the back. Easy to hold, hard to take without smokes.
Attack plan
Smoke Heaven and Screens, sometimes A Ramps, then clear the site with flashes and info. Send one or two players toward Tower and Heaven through A Ramps, checking corners: a defender can be waiting near A Ramps or Mid Vent. The rest enter through A Main, plant in the A zone, then watch Heaven and Screens. Place a sentinel detector on A Main to know if a flank is coming.
- 1Smoke : Smoke Heaven (A Rafters)
- 2Smoke : Smoke Screens
- 3Smoke : Smoke A Ramps (depending on the plan)
- 4Route : Entry through A Main
- 5Route : One or two players through Ramps toward Tower
- 6Plant : Plant in the A zone
- 7Hold : Post-plant: watch Heaven
- 8Trap : Sentinel trap on A Main against flanks
Defense plan
Hold both entrances: one player on A Ramps, another on Screens or in Heaven with a view of A Main. Use your damage, smokes and flashes early in the lane, because once the attackers are in and grouped near the plant, the retake gets hard. Also keep one player in mid for lurks. If the pressure is too strong on both sides, don't leave your Heaven player alone: give up the site and retake it together.
- 1Hold : One player on A Ramps
- 2Hold : Hold Screens, view of A Main
- 3Hold : One player watches mid
- 4Trap : Trap or slow at the back of A Main
- 5Route : Retake: Screens then site
- 6Molly : Molly on the plant during the retake
Site B
B is the bottom site of the map, with a single main entrance, B Garage, a Heaven (B Rafters) with a Hell underneath, crates, a back area (B Back) and a side passage (B Alley). Defenders often hide in Heaven, at the back or at Default.
Attack plan
Start by taking info and space in mid, cutting the rotations that come from Mid Vent. Neutralize Heaven with a smoke or a wall as soon as you enter through B Garage, then clear Default, B Back and B Alley with your duelists' info and flashes. Don't commit dry into B Garage without pressure in mid. After the plant, stay at B Back or fall back toward B Garage: the threats come from Heaven and B Alley.
- 1Smoke : Smoke Heaven (B Rafters)
- 2Info : Info on Default, Back and Alley before entering
- 3Route : Pressure in mid to cut rotations
- 4Route : Entry through B Garage
- 5Plant : Plant in the B zone
- 6Hold : Post-plant from B Back
- 7Trap : Flank detector at the start of B Garage
Defense plan
Your goal is to win the duel at B Garage, the main entrance: once the attackers are in the site, the retake is hard. Take info early in B Garage and keep one player in mid for attackers coming from that side. Keep a player in Heaven. On a plant, retake through Heaven, B Alley or B Garage: make players move with damage and flashes before you defuse.
- 1Hold : Kill the entry right at B Garage
- 2Hold : Hold Heaven (B Rafters)
- 3Hold : One player watches mid
- 4Info : Early info on B Garage
- 5Route : Retake through Heaven
- 6Route : Retake through Alley
- 7Molly : Molly on the plant during the retake

Split tips
- Before you set foot on A, sweep your crosshair over Heaven and Screens: a shooter on high ground sees the whole lane and doesn't forgive.
- In mid, aim at the Mid Top angle as soon as the round opens: this crossroads leads to Mid Vent, Mid Mail and the ropes, so to both sites.
- Take at least a piece of mid on attack: it draws defensive utility and lets you pick your site.
- The ropes are only useful tied to a split, a rotation or a timing: don't take them alone for no reason.
- On B defense, win your duel right at B Garage and don't give up Heaven: it's good support for the retake.
