Map layout
Pearl has two sites, A and B, at opposite ends of the map, and a big, open central mid linked to both sites. A is behind A Main, A Link and A Art. B is behind B Main and B Ramp, with B Tower, a high position that defenders use, and B Link on the mid side. Controlling mid gives a clear edge to the team that holds it. There are no ropes, no teleporters and no doors: the map is played on its geometry, its big open spaces and its long lines of sight, which attackers have to cover with utility.
Key features
No ropes or teleporters
Pearl has no special movement mechanics. Rotations are done on foot through mid, and the geometry of the lanes and the high ground creates the duels. Plan your rotations before you commit.
B reworked at patch 11.08
On October 14, 2025, Riot removed the deep line of sight from B Long, which gave defenders too much control of the site from a safe position, and moved cover on and around the site to create more direct duels. Old B guides are no longer valid.
Tighter A Main to site passage
In patch 5.06, Riot tightened the passage between A Main and the site so it is easier to smoke, and shrank the recess on the right a little. Defenders gain a new spot to place their utility.
Mid and A Art simplified in 5.06
The same patch extended the Mid Shops platform, removed an angle between Mid Shops and Mid Plaza, pushed back a wall in Mid Top and simplified A Art, to cut down the angles you have to check.
Site A
A is the site behind A Main and A Link. The passage from A Main to the site was tightened in patch 5.06 so it is easier to smoke, and defenders got a new spot there to place their utility.
Attack plan
Smoke the passage between A Main and the site first: since patch 5.06, it is narrower and easier to block. Then advance through A Main as a group so you don't get isolated. If a defender blocks you in A Main, use the central pillar to swing around the duel instead of shooting head-on. Plant in the A zone, then keep A Main under your crosshair: on Pearl, time and a good post-plant beat a forced execute.
- 1Smoke : Smoke the A Main to site passage
- 2Route : Entry through A Main toward the site
- 3Plant : Plant in the A zone
Defense plan
Anchor the site and make the attack pay for its utility before you give up space. Since patch 5.06, the passage between A Main and the site leaves a new spot for your utility: place a trap or an alarm there. Close off A Secret or A Link, for example with a Sage wall, to limit the approach angles. To retake the site, group up and enter together.
- 1Hold : Hold or close off A Secret
- 2Hold : Anchor the A site
- 3Trap : Trap at the A Main to site passage
Site B
B is the site behind B Main and B Ramp, where the attackers come from. B Tower is a high position for defenders, and B Hall has given them a hiding spot since patch 6.11. Patch 11.08 removed the deep line of sight from B Long and moved cover on the site.
Attack plan
Advance through B Ramp and B Main: the B Main corridor is long and wide, and Harbor's High Tide helps the entry a lot there. Since patch 11.08, there is no deep line of sight from B Long, so duels are fought up close on the site. Check B Tower, which defenders play from high ground, and B Hall before you plant in the B zone.
- 1Wall : Harbor High Tide in B Main
- 2Route : Entry through B Ramp and B Main
- 3Plant : Plant in the B zone
Defense plan
Since patch 11.08, defenders benefit from new cover on and around the site, and attackers no longer have a deep line from B Long. Hold B Hall, which got a defender hiding spot in patch 6.11, with new angles on B Link and the long plant. The B Screen pocket, enlarged in the same patch, gives you another post. Use the height of B Tower, without staying there too long.
- 1Hold : Hold from B Hall
- 2Hold : Hold from B Tower
- 3Hold : Hold the B Screen pocket
Sample comp
CloveControllerClove, a controller, tops the map's stats on MetaBot, which puts him in its typical comp.
SovaInitiatorSova, an initiator, gives info on the mid and site lanes, which the map opens up a lot.
KilljoySentinelKilljoy, a sentinel, locks down a site on defense with her utility, which is what the map asks for on defense.
PhoenixDuelistPhoenix enters as a duelist and opens duels, with his own flashes and his heals.
NeonDuelistNeon, a fast duelist, takes space quickly and completes the comp's entry duo.
Comp given as is by the MetaBot FAQ (page showing October 15, 2026, a date considered unreliable because it is generated in bulk on the site). Not a pro comp: Pearl is no longer in competitive.
Pearl tips
- On Pearl, play the tempo: take info, avoid executing blind and focus on your post-plant rather than forcing an entry.
- Control mid before you pick your site: it is a big open space linked to both sites, and the team that holds it has a clear edge.
- On B, aim at the corners of the site rather than the back: since patch 11.08, there is no deep line of sight from B Long, so duels happen up close.
- In A Main, don't fight in the open in the corridor: The Spike's guide advises using the central pillar to swing around the duel rather than shooting head-on.
- Before you leave the A Main to site passage, put your crosshair at head height on the back angle: this passage was tightened in patch 5.06.
