Duelist

Jett: abilities and tips

Jett is a South Korean Duelist built around mobility: she enters a site, takes out an opponent, then gets out before the other team can respond.

Jett

Playstyle

Jett opens up sites: she takes space with an aggressive angle, wins the first duel, then gets clear before the enemy team reacts. Updraft and Tailwind let you change angles or escape without losing pressure. Cloudburst hides a line of fire while you enter. She shines with an Operator or a Vandal when you win your duels alone, and her ultimate replaces your guns on eco rounds. She brings little utility to the team: your impact depends mostly on your aim and your timing.

Abilities

Key CBasic

Cloudburst

200 credits · 2 charges

You throw a projectile that turns into a small smoke on impact. Holding the key bends its path toward your crosshair, so you can curve around an angle or drop the smoke farther away. It blocks vision for a short moment.

Key numbers

  • Smoke duration: 2.5 s
  • Holding the key bends the path
  • Drop the smoke on the angle that threatens you most, then enter right away: its short duration (2.5 s) leaves no time to hesitate.
  • Curve the smoke around a wall to cover an angle you can't see yet from your position.
Key QBasic

Updraft

150 credits · 1 charge

You launch yourself upward instantly. You can reach ledges and crates that are out of reach on foot, play unexpected angles or escape a duel. Combined with your glide, the ability keeps you in the air for a moment.

Key numbers

  • Duration: 0.6 s
  • Go up at the start of the round to an elevated position the enemy doesn't check first.
  • Only one charge since patch 7.04: save it for a moment that matters, not for a basic movement.
Key ESignature

Tailwind

1 free charge per round · 1 charge

You first prepare a gust of wind, then reuse it to dash in your movement direction, or forward if you are standing still. You regain the charge every two kills, which rewards chaining kills.

Key numbers

  • Activation window: 7.5 s
  • Activation delay: 1 s
  • Dash: 0.45 s
  • Recharges every 2 kills
  • Activate it before the duel, not during: the 1 s delay means you can't activate it and escape in the same instant.
  • After a first kill, dash toward cover instead of staying exposed, and let your teammates get the trade.
Key XUltimate

Blade Storm

8 ultimate points

You equip highly accurate throwing knives. Primary fire throws a single knife and refreshes your knives on every kill, while alternate fire throws the whole set without a refresh. A headshot is enough to kill, whatever the shield.

Key numbers

  • Damage: 150 to the head, 50 to the body, 42 to the legs
  • Primary fire refreshes the knives on a kill
  • Use primary fire to aim precisely and chain kills, and alternate fire only to finish a nearby opponent.
  • Activate the ultimate on an eco round for maximum impact without buying a gun.
Passive

Drift

Holding the jump key during a fall makes you glide instead of dropping. You soften falls and extend your time in the air after Updraft, which changes the timing of your duels.

  • Glide after a jump to stay in the air longer, but remember your accuracy drops when you shoot in the air.

Strengths

  • Two instant movement tools (Updraft, Tailwind) let you enter a site and leave again without giving the enemy time to punish you.
  • Tailwind comes back every two kills: a streak of won duels gives you your escape back for free.
  • A curved Cloudburst covers your entry on a tight angle without needing a teammate.
  • Blade Storm replaces your guns and stays very accurate while moving, which is useful on eco rounds.
  • Updraft opens elevated positions that opponents don't always check.

Weaknesses

  • Your value depends on your aim: if you lose a duel, you have little utility to help your team.
  • Tailwind must be activated before use: if you trigger it too early or too late, you lose your exit.
  • A single charge of Updraft (150 credits) and 200 credits for two Cloudbursts make a full buy more expensive.
  • Cloudburst lasts 2.5 s: an opponent who waits for the end of the smoke punishes you if you hesitate.
  • Your accuracy drops in the air or at full run: shooting during a dash or a jump is risky.

Tips

  1. Play the first contact: only pre-activate Tailwind if you really plan to take an advanced duel.
  2. After a kill, leave the angle with Tailwind or Updraft before the enemy team reacts.
  3. Save Blade Storm for an eco round, where it replaces a gun purchase.
  4. Pre-position high with Updraft on defense, on spots your team has scouted.
  5. Train counter-strafe and head taps: a duel won in one shot frees up your dash at the right time.
  6. Master the curve of Cloudburst in the range so you can drop it without exposing yourself.

The aim to train

The Road2Radiant benchmark subcategories that matter most here.

  • Static

    Clicking on static targets

Jett wins her entry duels on stationary targets: a precise flick with the Operator or the Vandal decides the round.

    Drills to improve
  • Strafe Click

    Clicking while strafing

You move a lot before shooting: counter-strafing and clicking accurately while moving keep you from losing a duel after a dash.
