Waylay

Playstyle

Waylay sets the tempo of entries. You slow the defenders with Saturate, enter with a dash or a double dash, then return to your beacon with Refract if the trade goes badly. Your hindered enemies move and handle their weapons more slowly. She shines on maps full of nooks, with allies who give info or stun. Alone, she is read quickly: vary your entries and don't always follow Saturate with a dash, because the enemy expects it.

Abilities

Key CBasic

Saturate

300 credits · 1 charge

You equip a mass of light, then throw it at the ground. It explodes on contact and hinders nearby players: they move and handle their weapons more slowly. It is used to clear an angle before entering or to delay a push.

Key numbers

  • Setup: 0.6 s
  • Hinder effect: 3 s
  • Radius: 6 m
  • Throw it on the angle you want to clear, then advance at normal speed to kill: slowed enemies react poorly.
  • Don't always follow it with a dash: the enemy expects this pattern and punishes you on the way out.
  • Enter during the 3 s of hinder: after that, the enemies get their speed back.
Key QBasic

Lightspeed

300 credits · 1 charge

You prepare a burst of speed. Primary fire sends you forward twice, alternate fire only once. Only the first dash can lift you into the air, which lets you clear obstacles and surprise people.

Key numbers

  • Duration of a dash: 0.45 s
  • Use the double dash to enter a site or change angles faster than the enemy can shoot.
  • Go up with the first dash to clear a crate or a ledge, then drop with the second.
  • Use the single dash to extract yourself from a lost duel, without wasting the whole charge.
Key ESignature

Refract

1 free charge per round · 1 charge

You place a light beacon on the ground, then reactivate it to return to it as a particle of light. You are invulnerable during this trip. You regain a charge every two kills.

Key numbers

  • Setup: 1 s
  • Beacon duration: 8 s
  • Travel: 0.35 to 2 s
  • Recharge: one charge every 2 kills
  • Place the beacon before entering a site, kill an opponent, then return before the counterattack.
  • After the plant, use the beacon to control an angle and pull back when needed.
  • Don't leave it in the same place for too long: an enemy who spots it can camp it.
Key XUltimate

Convergent Paths

8 ultimate points

You project a ray of light ahead of you, which limits your aim and movement during setup. Then you gain a strong acceleration and the ray widens, hindering players in the zone. It is used to enter or to block an advance.

Key numbers

  • Total setup: 1.6 s
  • Hinder: 6 s
  • Speed bonus: +10% for 7 s
  • Use it to enter a site: the hinder reduces the defenders' response.
  • Place the ray in a narrow corridor before it widens to slow the incoming enemies.

Strengths

  • Her double dash moves you very fast, which disrupts the enemy's aim.
  • Refract brings you back to your beacon while invulnerable: you can take a duel then pull out.
  • Saturate slows movement and weapons: defenders lose reactivity, which makes the entry easier.
  • Her kit lets you enter through unexpected positions, thanks to the vertical dash.

Weaknesses

  • Saturate only hinders for 3 s: if you hesitate before entering, the advantage disappears.
  • An enemy who spots your beacon can wait for it or send utility at it, which cancels your return.
  • She costs 600 credits across two basic abilities, which leaves little for the gun in economy rounds.
  • She takes practice: knowing when to enter, when to fall back and how to chain the dashes.

Tips

  1. Vary your entries: don't always follow Saturate with a dash, the enemy expects it.
  2. Place the beacon before the entry, not during: you know where to return.
  3. Train tracking while moving and the flick: you shoot right after a dash.
  4. Play with an ally who stuns or gives info, so your entry pays off.
  5. Play on maps with nooks, where your movement is worth the most.
