Fade

Playstyle

Fade is an information Initiator. You throw Haunt to reveal the defenders, which leaves Terror Trails, then you send Prowler along those trails to make the target nearsighted. Seize holds and decays grouped enemies, which gives your Duelists an edge. You're not there to enter first: you set up the execute, call out the positions and let the entrants strike. On defense, you read pushes with Haunt and hold the attackers with Seize. Nightfall tags, deafens and decays a whole group: place it before the execute or on a retake.

Abilities

Key CBasic

Prowler

250 credits · 2 charges

You send a prowler ahead of you, which you can guide toward your crosshair by holding fire. It chases the first enemy or the first Terror Trail it spots and makes the enemy it hits nearsighted.

Key numbers

  • Lifetime: 2.5 s
  • Prowler HP: 60
  • Nearsight: 2.75 s
  • Throw it after a Haunt: the Terror Trail guides it toward the target, without you needing to aim precisely.
  • Use it in narrow corridors before an execute to force defenders to fall back or reveal themselves.
Key QBasic

Seize

200 credits · 1 charge

You throw a knot of fear that falls after a delay, or earlier if you reactivate the ability. On impact, it holds nearby enemies, deafens them and decays their health.

Key numbers

  • Tether duration: 4.5 s
  • HP decay: 75, restored over 5 s
  • Combine it with a teammate who has damage: a held enemy is an easy target for a Duelist.
  • Save it for places where enemies stay in cover, like a forced chokepoint or a Spike being defused.
Key ESignature

Haunt

1 free charge per round · 1 charge · Cooldown: 50 s

You throw a watcher that falls after a delay. On impact, it reveals the enemies in its field of view and draws a Terror Trail to them. Enemies can destroy it, which gives away their position.

Key numbers

  • Active duration: 1.5 s
  • Watcher HP: 1
  • Terror Trail: 12 s
  • Throw it from an unexpected angle or a rooftop, out of the defenders' line of sight.
  • When you hear a shot on the watcher, note the position: it counts as much as the reveal.
Key XUltimate

Nightfall

8 ultimate points

You release a wave of nightmare energy. The enemies it hits leave a Terror Trail, are deafened and have their HP decayed for a while, which makes them vulnerable to a coordinated assault.

Key numbers

  • Wave width: 20 m
  • Terror Trail and deafen: 8 s
  • HP decay: 75, restored over 12 s
  • Use it just before the execute so Prowler and your Duelists benefit from the trails.
  • Call it out before the execute: the trails last 8 s, so your team has to take advantage right away.

Strengths

  • Haunt reveals enemies through walls and leaves trails, which keeps you from entering a site blind.
  • Prowler follows the trails on its own and makes the target nearsighted: you take the duel with an edge, without exposing yourself on the angle.
  • Seize holds enemies near the impact and decays their HP by 75: a teammate finishes them faster.
  • Nightfall opens an execute by tagging, deafening and decaying a whole group in one go.

Weaknesses

  • Enemies can destroy Haunt's watcher before it reveals anything, and they learn your position that way.
  • Without a Terror Trail, Prowler mostly follows your crosshair: an attentive player dodges it or shoots it (60 HP).
  • Seize lands at a fixed spot: an opponent who predicts the zone can avoid it.
  • Fade has little damage: she needs teammates to finish what she reveals.

Tips

  1. Throw Haunt before the rest: it leaves the Terror Trails that Prowler follows to reach its target.
  2. Don't play the first entrant: let your Duelist strike while you keep track of the positions.
  3. On a small budget, Haunt is free: throw it first. Seize (200) costs less than Prowler (250) if you can only pay for one ability.
  4. Call out every reveal to the team right away: a trail is only worth something if someone uses it.
  5. After a Haunt, place your crosshair at head height on the revealed angle: the shot has to go off as soon as the target appears, with no adjustment.
  6. Train shooting while moving: you should be able to land a precise tap right after a trail ping, while you move.

The aim to train

The Road2Radiant benchmark subcategories that matter most here.

  • Static

    Clicking on static targets

After a reveal, you have a short window to land a precise shot on the position the trail shows.

  • Strafe Click

    Clicking while strafing

When you follow a Prowler or a trail, you move and need to shoot cleanly with a counter-strafe on the revealed target.
