Controller

Miks: abilities and tips

Miks is a Croatian Controller who plays on sound: cheap smokes, a device that heals or disorients, a stim shared with an ally and an ultimate that knocks back and deafens.

Miks

Playstyle

Miks is a hybrid Controller who supports the team with few credits. You place smokes with Waveform to cut a site's angles, set up M-pulse before the action to heal or disorient depending on the chosen mode, then link Harmonize to the ally who enters first. The stim renews on every kill and lets you chain duels. Your ultimate knocks back, deafens and slows the enemies in front of you, but needs 1.6 s of windup: throw it when the team is ready to enter. You shine when you pre-place your tools and your team moves at the same time as you.

Abilities

Key CBasic

M-pulse

250 credits · 2 charges

You throw a device that emits sound waves once on the ground. Alternate fire changes its mode: disorient for enemies, heal for allies. It is fragile, so it has to be placed before the fight and protected from fire.

Key numbers

  • Windup: 1 s
  • Device health: 50 HP
  • Heal: 6.67 HP/s plus 20 HP per pulse, one pulse every 2 s
  • Disorient: 2 s at most per pulse
  • Place it before the action starts, out of enemy line of sight, otherwise two bullets destroy it.
  • Use heal mode during a post-plant or a retake, disorient mode to take a site.
  • Switch modes during the round to surprise an enemy who expects the other effect.
Key QBasic

Harmonize

200 credits · 1 charge

You target an ally to give you both a Combat Stim and a speed bonus. Each kill resets the duration. Alternate fire applies it to you only, but the ability then loses a lot of value.

Key numbers

  • Duration: 8 s, renewed on every kill
  • 10% bonus to equip speed, fire rate, reload speed and movement speed
  • Windup: 0.1 s
  • Link it to the entry who takes the first duel: a player who chains kills keeps the stim active.
  • Avoid self-casting except as a last resort: the point of the ability is to benefit an ally who takes the duels.
  • Activate it right before the site entry, without waiting, because the 8 s duration is short.
Key ESignature

Waveform

100 credits · 1 free charge per round · 2 charges · Cooldown: 40 s

You open a tactical map, place markers, then alternate fire deploys a smoke at each chosen spot. The clouds block vision and cost little. Your team can therefore enter with cover even on an eco.

Key numbers

  • Duration: 16.75 s
  • Windup: 1 s
  • Place them before the site entry to cut the most dangerous angles, before the defenders look.
  • Keep one charge for a plant or a retake rather than throwing everything at the start.
  • Take advantage of the low price to play your role even when the team has no credits.
Key XUltimate

Bassquake

8 ultimate points

You build up sonic radiance, then release it in a cone forward. Enemies hit are knocked back, deafened and slowed for several seconds. The windup is slow and visible, so it has to be thrown before the team enters.

Key numbers

  • Windup: 1.6 s
  • Slow and deafen: 8 s
  • Knocks back the enemies hit
  • Trigger it when your allies are ready to enter: the 1.6 s windup does not allow throwing it in reaction.
  • Aim at a narrow site entrance to hit several defenders at once.
  • Combine it with a Duelist who takes advantage of the 8 s of slowed and deafened enemies.

Strengths

  • Waveform costs 100 credits per smoke, so a useful Controller is still possible on an eco or a force buy.
  • Harmonize renews on every kill and supports an entry who chains duels for a long time.
  • M-pulse heals or disorients depending on the mode, which covers post-plant, retake and site take.
  • Bassquake knocks back, deafens and slows for 8 s: the enemies hit are easy targets for the team.
  • His kit combines smokes, healing and crowd control without depending on another role.

Weaknesses

  • M-pulse only has 50 HP: two bullets destroy it, and it needs 1 s of windup.
  • Harmonize lasts 8 s and loses almost all its value when thrown on yourself alone.
  • Bassquake needs 1.6 s of windup and cannot be thrown in reaction to an attack.
  • He places two smokes at most, against three for Brimstone: he covers maps that need a lot of cover less well.
  • At release, his kit was judged weaker than other Controllers': he takes real mastery to compete.

Tips

  1. Play with your team: Harmonize and your ultimate are only worth something if an ally uses the window.
  2. Place M-pulse before the action and check that an enemy cannot see it at a glance.
  3. Keep one charge of Waveform for the plant or the retake rather than spending everything at the entry.
  4. Choose the M-pulse mode according to the phase: disorient to enter, heal to hold.
  5. Train your counter-strafe: you often enter right after your smokes and the first shot has to be accurate.
  6. Train tracking against slowed targets: your ultimate slows them, so precise tracking finishes them.

The aim to train

The Road2Radiant benchmark subcategories that matter most here.

  • Strafe Click

    Clicking while strafing

With Harmonize you chain duels while moving: a clean counter-strafe wins you the first trade.

  • Precise

    Smooth precision tracking

Your enemies are slowed by the ultimate and disoriented by M-pulse: precision tracking finishes them better.
