How to play it

The Outlaw is a mid-range sniper, between the Marshal and the Operator. It fires two bullets very fast, at 2.75 shots per second, which lets you fix a missed first shot or finish an opponent hit in the body. Since patch 13.01, the second shot is less accurate: let the recoil settle and correct your aim before firing. Its penetration is strong, so it also suits angles behind thin walls. The full reload is one of the longest in the game.

When to buy it

On a force buy or half buy when you have 2,400 credits, and on a full buy if the team prefers a cheaper sniper than an Operator. Its penetration makes it useful against enemies hiding behind cover. Count on 2,800 credits with Light Armor.

Strengths

  • Two bullets ready: the second shot goes out at 2.75 shots per second, much faster than with the Marshal (1.5).
  • A headshot always kills, and a body shot kills an opponent with Light Armor (140 versus 125 HP).
  • Wall penetration is high: you can shoot through thin cover without exposing your head.
  • Its price of 2,400 credits stays well below the Operator's, which makes it playable from a half buy.

Weaknesses

  • Two-round magazine and a full reload of 3.8 seconds: after the duel, you're vulnerable.
  • Since patch 13.01, after the first shot, the second goes out with up to 2.25° of spread and 4.0 recoil: the fast second shot is uncertain.
  • A body shot doesn't kill an opponent in Heavy Armor (140 versus 150 HP).
  • A single zoom level (3.5x) and two rounds: less suited than the Operator (2.5x or 5x, five rounds) to locking down long corridors.

Tips

  1. Space your two shots out a bit since patch 13.01: let the recoil settle and correct your aim before firing again.
  2. Aim for the head on the first shot: it kills unconditionally, while the body leaves a Heavy Armor target alive.
  3. Shoot standing still or after a counter-strafe: spread on the move makes long-range shots miss.
  4. After an exchange, back off to reload: 3.8 seconds of reload is long in a duel.
  5. Use the penetration on thin walls, when the enemy is revealed by an ability.

The aim to train

  • Static

    Clicking on static targets

The first shot has to hit the head on a stationary target: that's the move that makes the weapon worth it.

  • Dynamic

    Clicking on moving targets

The second shot targets an enemy who moves after being hit: you have to correct fast on a moving target.
